Responsive Classroom
Along with our whole school, we use Responsive Classroom methods in our classroom. This means we try to create a classroom community where kids can feel safe, loved and important. We spend a lot of time focusing on the social-emotional learning as well as the acadmic growth of each student so they can be a successful member of our community. Each morning we will have a morning meeting where we will greet each other, have student sharing, do an activity and read our morning message as a class. This is an important time for students to get to know each other and find positive ways to interact with each other. We will also create hopes and dreams for the year and create our classroom rules as a class.
Our Class Rules 2016/2017
During the first week of school we decided on four rules for our classroom to help us reach our hopes and dreams this year.

1. Be kind
2. Be good listeners & use
appropriate voice
3. Be safe
4. Try new things
Arnie the Doughnut!
This year we will have Arnie the doughnut with us as our class pet. Arnie will get to visit each student at least once during the year to go on an adventure! When the student is finished he/she will write/draw/take pictures of what they did with Arnie and share it with our class. Then they will add their project to our class Arnie book. If anyone has a trip planned this year be sure to let us know so you can reserve Arnie!

School Celebrations
Celebrations are a very important part of creating a community of learners. In an effort to make Little Canada an inclusive environment for everyone, we will not be endorsing specific holidays. Instead, we will be focusing on our inclusive celebrations that support the mission, vision and values of Little Canada Elementary School and the Roseville School District. You are always welcome to bring a snack for our class if you let me know in advance and make sure it is peanut free.
