Get to know

Mrs. Skogstad

I am thrilled to be your teacher this year! We are going to learn so many amazing things together. Some of my favorite parts of third grade are meeting all of my students and learning about each other in our classroom community, singing multiplication songs, growing plants hydroponically, reading exciting adventures and writing powerful stories. This will be my third year teaching third grade, I previously taught first grade at Little Canada. My other roles at our school include gifted and talented lead teacher and coach of the

4th-6th grade Future Problem Solving Program.

Education:

I have been teaching since 2011 and am a graduate of the University of Minnesota.  I hold a Bachelors of Science in Elementary Education grades K-6 with an endorsement in 5-8 Language Arts and a Masters of Elementary Education. Through my college experiences I had the opportunity to work in many classroom settings across the Twin Cities as well as coordinate an urban tutoring program through the University YMCA.

When I was a Little Canadian:

I grew up right here in Little Canada and will always call this place my home. My street was filled with my very large family (the Collovas) and I enjoyed swimming in Lake Gervais, playing soccer at Pioneer Park and having spaghetti at the Little Venetian with my Italian-American family. Today, I still love spending time with my family, friends and being outside.
